The Motorola Droid Razr M isn’t an iPhone. But that doesn’t matter. It’s still a darn good phone worth noting. This time around, Motorola didn’t make a phone that looks like all the other Android phones on the market. And guess what? That’s a good thing. Amidst a sea of phones that look alike, Motorola is taking a step in the opposite direction. If you were a fan of the Razr in the past, Motorola’s new M is sure to please in a whole new way.

Size Matters

Apple has created a new iPhone that’s larger than its predecessors. Motorola’s Razr M is smaller than the previous Razrs. In fact, the M is somewhat comparable to the iPhone 4S when it comes to size. Motorola has kept its signature Kevlar backing, so this phone won’t slip easily. The Kevlar also gives the M a nice sleek look, though Motorola might have done away with the three screws sticking out the side of the M. Other than those three eyesores, the M is really a nice looking phone. Aside from design, Motorola has also give the M some interesting and appealing features.

Motorola Droid Razr M Features

The first thing you will notice about the M is that it has a back facing camera. This Droid also comes with a 4.3-inch screen (quite nice to look at), an AMOLED display, and a PenTile pixel design. This layout does make it possible to see some small pixilation if you look closely enough, but, hey, who really looks that close? When tested, the Droid M did display nice rich colors, and viewing videos and photos on the M screen was rewarding enough.

Software Specs

Motorola went with Android 4.0 when the M was originally designed. However, a free upgrade to Anrdoid’s Jelly Bean will be arriving soon. One nice feature included in the M is the swipe left to right feature. When swiping left to right, a Menu screen will pop up. This Menu screen then provides instant access to Quick Settings. Inside of the Quick Settings menu, users can access things like WiFi, Airplane Mode, and other settings that might be needed in a flash. This feature makes the Droid a lot more convenient to use as compared to other newly released Android phones on the current market.

Of course, the Droid M comes with Google Chrome as its default browser. Since Google has just updated Chrome, this is a good thing – heck, even iOS users are navigating towards Chrome in place of Safari. After testing, the Droid M proved to be a decent phone that is user-friendly, includes plenty of great features, and runs faster than a lot of other Android phones on the current market. If you don’t want to shell out the cash for an iPhone or just aren’t into what most smartphones have to offer, the Droid M is really a good option. Motorola has priced the Droid Razr M at $ 99 without a contract. This phone is available in both white and black, though I preferred the black version.
