Your new colleagues have just added you to Facebook. Suddenly, panic sets in. Did you delete all of those embarrassing photos and statuses? Where did you put that questionable picture? How are you going to make sure that your new colleagues don’t see anything you don’t want them to see? You could go through all of your photos and statuses making sure that only certain people can see them. Or, you could use a new website called {{http://facewa.sh/login#info|FaceWash}}.

FaceWash washes your Facebook profile clean. Anything that you want to have hidden from the world will suddenly disappear after using FaceWash. If this sounds too good to be true, you’re wrong. FaceWash works, it’s simple to use, and it’s already getting thousands of hits. Here’s how to use the site if you’re in desperate need of a Facebook wash.

Using FaceWash

FaceWash couldn’t be simpler to use. Simply log into the site using your Facebook account login details, and then search for any photo or status using keywords. For example, if you want to delete a photo of yourself and your friends checking out a nude beach, just type those keywords into the FaceWash search. In seconds, anything that contains those keywords will pop up allowing you to delete those questionable photos.

FaceWash works well for the most part, and it’s really a clever service to use. This is especially true if you happen to be looking for a job. What does Facebook have to do with a job search? Believe it or not, the first thing most employers will do is check out your name by conducting a Google or Facebook search. When this happens, it’s a good idea to make sure that any search result returns positive photos and status updates. Otherwise, you might not get that job. Just remember that it’s tough to completely delete everything from the Internet, so a photo or status might show up somewhere else. But, if it’s on Facebook, FaceWash has you covered.

Availability

Currently, Facebook is in beta mode. However, you can sign up to test the site. The last time I checked the site it was experiencing technical difficulties – likely due to the thousands of people who have been visiting the site this morning. The developers behind FaceWash (two recent Kent state grads) didn’t anticipate the site being such a huge hit. When FaceWash is out of beta mode, there’s little doubt that the site will become an instant go-to site for most people fearing past Facebook statuses and photos.

For now, try and keep your Facebook posts in mind. After all, if you don’t want someone to see what you’ve put on your Facebook profile page, the best way to avoid embarrassment or a lost job is to simply avoid putting anything bad on your page (a simple enough concept). While the Internet seems like a relatively secure and private place, that’s simply not the truth. If you like the idea of FaceWash, make sure to like the company’s page on Facebook and to share this article with friends. Good ideas like this one shouldn’t be kept a secret!
