Just when you were getting used to your iPhone, Apple has come out with the iPhone 4S. Even though the world was waiting for an iPhone 5 announcement, Apple’s iPhone 4S announcement has appeased eager Apple fans for now. It’s not that the 4S looks drastically different from the popular iPhone 4, but the 4S has a whole new inside.

Even if you have just purchased your iPhone 4, you might want to consider upgrading your current phone for the iPhone 4S. Why? Apple has put a lot of thought into the guts of the 4S, and it is certainly a step up for the iPhone 4. To start, Apple has added an innovative program called Siri to the mix.

Siri: The Personal Assistant You’ve Been Waiting For

Siri is the smartphone program to end all smartphone programs. Built into every new iPhone 4S, Siri is a virtual assistant that can do anything you ask her to. For example, you may ask Siri to send a message to a colleague while you are driving, running, or in a rowboat. All you have to do is command your iPhone to dictate your message and your message will be written and sent. But that’s not all Siri can do.
Apple’s Siri video includes a woman who’s baking and asks Siri to convert measurements – Siri replies.

There’s also a clip of someone asking her iPhone whether or not the weather will be cold in a certain part of the world – Siri replies. Essentially, you can ask your iPhone to do anything from writing an email to telling you about traffic, and your iPhone 4S equipped with Siri will respond promptly. If this sounds like an amazing feature, you’re right. In fact, it’s one of the best features I’ve seen on a smartphone to date, and it might be worth upgrading for.

New Camera and Faster Chip

The iPhone 4 has a great camera. But, the iPhone 4S has an even better camera. The 4S comes with an 8-megapixel sensor, reduced motion blur, face detection, and many other features. If you decide to upgrade to the iPhone 4S, you’ll be amazed at what this camera can do. Sharper pictures? Yep, the iPhone 4S can make that happen.

As if a newly upgraded camera and Siri weren’t enough, Apple has also added a new chip to the iPhone 4S. The A5 chip is the same chip that’s inside of the iPad 2. In short, this chip will make your iPhone 4S fast – really fast. Think you’ll have to give up some of that battery life in order to enjoy the new chip? Not if Apple has anything to say about it. Apple claims that the iPhone 4S battery can last up to eight hours when talking and six hours of browsing time.

The Question Is…

Do you wait for the iPhone 5 to appear (sources say that the announcement will be made on October 12th) or do you snag the iPhone 4S? Of course, you can always keep your current iPhone 4, which is still one of the best phones on the market.

It’s hard to imagine how Apple can possible make the iPhone 5 better than the iPhone 4S. It’s even harder to guess when the iPhone 5 will emerge. If you love technology, and you want a personal assistant, the iPhone 4S will cost you around $649 without a contract.
