Apple's iPhone 5S will likely be released sometime this September according to reliable sources. Today, that rumor just got a whole lot more real. Apple announced this morning that the company is now offering iPhone trade-in deals for current iPhone users in various countries including the USA.

If you presently own an older iPhone and you live in a participating country, Apple will take your older phone and provide you with a credit towards the purchase of a new phone - namely, the iPhone 5S. But, this credit could apply to the new iPhone 6 too. When will the 6 arrive? What are the other details? Here's what is known so far.

iPhone 5S Arrival Date

When Apple launched the iPhone 5, the response was rather muted. But, things are different now. People are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the iPhone 5S, and Apple is certainly enjoying every moment of this anticipation. Apple tends to release new phones in September, so you can expect the iPhone 5S to pop up any day now (get that old phone credit while you can!).

What about the iPhone 6? Well, there's no definite word yet, but very reliable sources have stated that the iPhone 6 will arrive in 2014. So, you will have to hold out longer if you want the 6 and not the 5S. Of course, it's hard to say what each phone will offer at the time of this writing, but there are plenty of rumors circulating. Not willing to wait until 2014 to get a new phone? Here's how you can trade in your old iPhone.

The Trade In Deal Details

Typically, Apple stores will offer $250 for an iPhone 5; $200 for an iPhone 4S; and $140 for an iPhone 4. All of these prices are entirely dependent on the condition of your phone, though, so don't expect to get a full trade in amount for a phone that's battered, bruised, or cracked. But, Apple might not give you the best deal when it comes to a trade in.

There are some online tech companies offering great trade in prices too, and you'll find that Amazon also has some options. If your phone isn't worth much when it comes to the Apple deal, shop around. There are also some things that you should do before you trade in your phone.

Preparing for A Trade In

First, make sure that you have backed up everything on your phone (thankfully, this is relatively simple with Apple's iTunes). You can also use a service like Dropbox to store all of your iPhone photos before you trade your phone in. Second, clean up your phone as much as you can, so that it looks ready to trade.

Apple's offer to provide current iPhone owners with rebates is a sure sign that the company is getting ready to release the iPhone 5S - and possibly the iPhone 6 alongside it. If you are ready to trade up, now's the time to see what you can get for your old phone.
