Not too long ago, Sony lacked game-wise in a big way. Then, along came LittleBigPlanet, the game that changed it all. Now, Sony has announced that the popular child-friendly game will be heading to the Vita console “sometime soon.” Right now, Sony is amidst the beta testing phase and seeking out beta testers (more on that below). This is a big and important move for Sony, since the handheld market in general is now slower and less important than ever before.

Bringing a popular game like LittleBigPlanet to the Vita may just boost Vita sales. It may also spread the word about Sony’s popular game – something that Sony really needs if the company plans on competing with the likes of Apple and other mobile gaming platforms. So, what’s the deal with LittleBigPlanet and why is this game so popular? In case you aren’t familiar with the adventures of Sockboy, here’s what you’ve been missing (and what you can look forward to if you own a Vita).

It’s All About Sockboy

LittleBigPlanet is an adventure game that Sony originally designed with kids in mind. This game is all about the main character named “Sockboy,” who has all kinds of adventures while wandering through the wild world. This game is reminiscent of Super Mario Brothers in a strange way and it also reminds me of those famous sock monkeys (only Sockboy is a boy, not a monkey). The object of the game is to help Sockboy through his adventures and get him where he needs to go unscathed. Sony has made this game kid-friendly, so that parents don’t have to worry about their children playing this game.

Since Sony is aiming for the kid crowd with the Vita, brining the popular LittleBigWorld to the Vita makes a lot of sense. Sony’s sales have been slipping lately, so we’ll have to see if LittleBigWorld makes a difference or not. Now, about that beta testing portion of this article that was mentioned above…

Sony Is Looking for Beta Testers

That’s right, Sony is looking for people to test out LittleBigWorld for Vita. This means, of course, that you have to own a Vita. It also means that Sony will be picking testers from a big group. In order to be chosen, you must head to the Sony website and sign up to be a beta tester. Sony will want to know your age, whether or not you’ve played LittleBigWorld before and all kinds of other bits and pieces about you and your gaming habits. If you are chosen to test out this game, you will have the opportunity to test LittleBigWorld before anyone else does – bragging rights, basically. If you’re a gamer, own a Vita, and love LittleBigWorld, sign up to be a beat tester!

Incidentally, Sony has also announced that the Vita will soon come in pearly white, but only in Japan for now. What’s that got to do with LittleBigWorld? Well, soon you may be able to play this fun game on a brand new white Vita – sounds like fun, right? Maybe, just maybe, Sony will be able to boost those sales once again after all.
