It’s hard to get giddy about most wireless keyboards. Many of the current offers run out of battery power quickly and are relatively hard to type on. But, Logitech has invented a wireless keyboard that’s both soft to the type and entirely solar powered.
The Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard retails for around $70 (at the time of this writing), and it is quite a nice keyboard to use if you type for hours on end. Unlike regular wireless keyboards, this one has keys that are soft to the touch much like a laptop keyboard. Logitech also made this keyboard as thin as a wafer, so you’ll have no problem fitting this innovative keyboard addition on your desktop.
Not Just For Sunshine
The problem with most solar powered items is that unless you live in a house fitted with more skylights than regular windows, these devices don’t usually work. After all, you do need light to keep a solar powered device running. What most people don’t think about is artificial light. In the case of the Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard, artificial light is just as good as the real deal.
So, that means that you can place a Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard in your cubicle, and it will work just fine. Logitech wanted to make sure that this keyboard works no matter what, so you’ll find two solar panels outfitting the top of this lovely to look at keyboard. What’s more, Logitech created the entire thing out of eco-friendly materials, so you can feel great about using this entirely green keyboard option.
Now for Mac
After some time considering the Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard, Apple asked Logitech to design a version of this keyboard for use with Macs. What surfaced was a special Logitech solar keyboard that works perfectly with any Mac you own. The Mac keyboard has everything that your current Apple keyboard has, but this one is powered by light.
I’m also excited to report that the Logitech solar keyboards for Apple come in many great colors. You can select from pink, blue, white, and some other options. For some reason, the light colors that Logitech has added to the Apple keyboards really fit the eco-consciousness of the Logitech concept. If you have a Mac computer, check out this keyboard – you won’t be sorry.
One Possible Drawback
If you type a lot (more than three hours per day), you have probably noted that most keyboards come with some kind of hand or palm rest. This addition to the average keyboard exists to make typing easier. Unfortunately, Logitech has eliminated any kind of hand or palm rest, and this may make the solar keyboard a bit harder to use. Logitech claims that the keyboard design is revolutionary, though you may find it tough going without a hand or palm rest.
Other than this slight drawback, the Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard is a great keyboard option. This keyboard can hold a two hour charge for days, it comes in great colors if you’re aiming for the Apple version, and it’s soft-type design takes some of the pressure off of sore fingers – it also comes with a very reasonable price.
