HP has just unveiled the newest addition to the HP family: the HP TouchSmart. This desktop computer includes a touch-screen that’s quite impressive in addition to a price tag that most will find appealing. Since touch-screen desktop technology is relatively new, the HP TouchSmart is pricier than the average desktop computer. But at under $2000, this computer is likely to entice lots of consumers looking for something that just feels right.

Most people today have touchscreen smartphones, tablets, and other touchscreen devices. So, it makes a good deal of sense for many people to transition to a touchscreen desktop. In fact, this technology has been largely anticipated for some time now. HP seems to have hit the nail on the head with its TouchSmart offering. Not only is this desktop computer keeping up with the times, it’s also a lot of fun to look at.

Touch-Screen Aside

A touch-screen computer is a great idea. An even better idea is a touch-screen computer that looks great and comes with a number of adjustment possibilities. Taking its cue from tablets and other PCs combined, the TouchSmart can be adjusted in a number of different ways. Say, for example, that you want to work on a drawing, but you don’t want to work with an upright screen. Well, HP has made it possible to tilt the TouchSmart until it is almost flat against your work surface.

If you’re watching a film, you can adjust the TouchSmart screen accordingly. This monitor slides easily from one position to the next, so that you’ll always have the best view – but that’s not all that this desktop can do. HP has also made it a snap to connection to social networks, play with popular apps, and do all of the things that a great desktop computer should do –without any added or extra effort.

TouchSmart Specs

The TouchSmart comes with a 2GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 320GB hard drive, and 4GB of RAM. HP will also be introducing a TouchSmart option that includes a faster processor for a higher price. If you love apps, you’ll enjoy the fact that HP has integrated all kinds of apps into this desktop. Some of the apps that you’ll find loaded onto the TouchSmart include Twitter, Facebook, Rhapsody, Hulu, and many other apps.

It’s difficult to imagine that the HP TouchSmart won’t become a best seller. Those looking for an alternative to a bulky desktop system are sure to find the TouchSmart appealing. Not to mention the fact that this desktop comes with a price tag that most people can afford ($1999). The only word of caution that I would throw out is that touch-screen desktops are relatively new.

This means that touchscreen technology for desktop computers will likely improve over the next few years. Still, the TouchSmart is an ideal buy for anyone seeking to save desktop space, work with a computer that’s intelligent and quick, and make the leap from a regular, upright, PC to an affordable touchscreen option.
