The dating app that everyone loves to hate (Tinder) has created a new partnership today. Tinder has just teamed up with Spotify. That’s right, you can now add a song to your Tinder profile.
Tinder is calling the new song option your personal ‘anthem,’ and the partnership has a lot of people updating their Tinder profiles today.
Setting Up Your Tinder Tune
If you have a Tinder account, you will now see a new Spotify song selection button. Simply click on the button and choose the song that best represents you. There are so many options to select from, so how do you choose the right one?
It’s a tough choice, but I’m thinking that if you go with a song that represents how you are feeling about relationships right now you might have a good chance of finding exactly the kind of relationship that you want. If you choose something a bit more provocative, you might attract the wrong kind of date - unless that is what you want, right?
Sending the Right Message
The Internet is abuzz today with song interpretations. Some say that choosing an older song might mean that you’ll attract an older person. But that might not necessarily be true. You might just show that you have some interesting taste in music. Choosing the right song is tricky, though.
So why are the two teaming up? Basically, Tinder teaming up with Spotify turns Tinder into something like Facebook or MySpace. Only Tinder is for the single crowd, so you won’t find everyone you know on it. Spotify is definitely getting more recognition (and probably more users) out of the deal, and Tinder gets to hitch its wagon to Spotify.
But how much can you tell about a person by the music that they listen to?
What A Song Says About You
It’s really hard to guess someone’s personality from the music that they listen to, but what you can discern is whether or not you will like the type of music that the person you’re considering dating listens to - or whether or not you’ll argue over what music to listen to on that road trip. If you’re a diehard music fan, though, and you can’t stand anyone that listens to pop music or a certain pop artist, you might just steer clear of all those pop related profiles.
And, men, if you look at a profile and someone has put up a popular wedding song (Etta James, anyone?) you might want to run (unless you are looking for that eternal relationship). So if you have a Tinder profile and you want to meet the right person, choose your personal anthem carefully. You might just turn someone away with the wrong choice.
Using It
The Tinder and Spotify connection should be available to all Tinder users today. Just check your Tinder app, choose the right song (remember to choose carefully), and get ready to attract all those people that share your taste in music. Just remember to be selective!
