  • UPlanMe: Your New Event Planner
Technology Articles > Software > Games & Entertainment > UPlanMe: Your New Event Planner

Do you ever wish that you had a private event planner? You know, someone who would plan events just for you? While hiring someone to handle your social calendar might be on the expensive side, there’s a new site that will pack your calendar full of things you like to do, for free. The site is called UPlanMe, and it’s turning out to be a great way to find the things that you like to do in your town or city.

Using UPlanMe

Signing up for a UPlanMe account is as simple as allowing the site to access your Facebook account. Once you’ve linked accounts, you can fill in your email address and a quick password. After that, the site will pull up events that you might be interested in that are happening in or around your area. From there, you can click on events that you might be interested in, and UPlanMe will place those events in your calendar.

Essentially, UPlanMe uses the information that’s currently stored in your Facebook account to find events that might interest you (all of your likes). If you live in a rural area, the site may pull up events that are a bit far to travel, but you can decide if an event is worth traveling for. After you’ve chosen a few events, you will see all of the events that you have expressed interest in. The site does ask you to add Facebook and email friends (and you can share events this way too), but you don’t have to comply with these requests.

A Handy Way to Find Out What’s Happening

Sometimes it’s tough to find out what’s going on in your town (or in your area). You can read the local newspapers and check out Twitter for current events, but it’s not always easy to find things that will interest you. Or, if you do manage to find things of interest, sometimes it’s too late to buy a ticket to an event by the time you find out. For these reasons, using UPlanMe will be a great way to find out what’s happening before it’s too late.

The only complaint I had when testing out this site was that events were not offered in Canada. If you live in the U.S., plenty of events should be offered, however. UPlanMe developers might want to think about extending the events included in this calendar north of the border, since there are many interesting things happening all over Canadian cities as well. Otherwise, my test run of the UPlanMe site went smoothly, and I could view many events happening not too far away from where I reside.

Sign Up and Get Planned!

If you want to know what you should do this weekend, check out the UPlanMe site. You might not be able to hire your own personal consultant, but the UPlanMe site is the next best thing. Signing up for a UPlanMe account is free (at the time of this writing), and it only takes a few minutes to sift through various events and find the ones that interest you the most. At the end of the day when you want to visit a great restaurant (with food you’ll like), listen to some music that you’ll enjoy, or find out what’s on TV tonight (the site even has a TV category), UPlanMe certainly seems like the easiest way to accomplish all of these tasks.
