There are over a dozen different Windows Phone 7 devices in multiple countries, but this is a comparison of the hardware for US phones specifically. Among the various countries, however, the operating system is essentially the same. All of the phones have a 5 megapixel camera which can shoot 720p HD, Bluetooth, 802.11n Wi-Fi, and use a microUSB interface. They all also have the same approximate speed with 1 GHz processors, similar amounts of RAM, and the Venue and Quantum have physical QWERTYs.
The Focus has arguably the best screen to look at out of all of the US Windows phones. With a Super AMOLED screen it has vibrant colors especially when viewed indoors. The size of the screen is 4 inches, which is average for the phones. Its size is 4.84 x 2.56 x 0.39 bringing it in as the second largest phone, but at 4.07 oz it is also the lightest. The Focus has 8 GB of internal memory, but also has an expansion slot for microSD and microSDHC making it the most expandable. With a better than average talk time of 6.5 hours and a 300 hour stand-by time among the phones it comes standard with a 1500 mAh battery.
The Quantum’s screen is 3.5 inches and so is the smallest screen of all of the phones and it uses TFT (thin film transistor) for a more vibrant display than just LCD. Its size is 4.70 x 2.34 x 0.60 and it comes in at second-to-smallest of the phones, but it weighs in at 6.21 oz making it the second heaviest. The Quantum has a built in memory of 16 GB and is pretty much tied with the Venue pro with a talk time of 7 hours, standby time of 350 hours. 1500 mAh batter is standard.
The Surround uses LCD technology for its screen and it is 3.8 inches which makes it the second smallest. At 5.82 oz it is average among the phones and the same can be said for its 4.70 x 2.42 x 0.51 size. Like the Quantum, the Surround comes with 16 GB internal memory, but has only 4 hours of talk time and 275 of stand-by with a 1230 mAh battery.
Like the Surround, the HD7 uses an LCD screen, but bumps the size up to 4.30 inches. Its weight of 5.71 oz brings it in second lightest which is ironic since at 4.80 x 2.68 x 0.44 it is also the second biggest of the phones. Like the other HTC phone the HD7 comes with a 1230 mAh battery and 16 GB internal memory, but it increases the talk and stand-by time to 6.33 hours and 310 hours respectively.
Dell Venue Pro
The Venue Pro has a similar screen to the Focus with AMOLED technology and has the second smallest screen at 4.10 inches. Average in size with a 4.76 x 2.54 x 0.59 the Venue Pro manages to pack 6.74 ounces into a nice package. The Venue has a maximum memory card size of 8 GB, but gets great usage out of its 1400 mAh battery with 7 hours of talk time and 336 hours of stand-by.
