Pizza Hut was one of the first restaurants to get in on the app action. Many restaurants have attempted to follow Pizza Hut’s famed lead, but few have been successful. Recently, TGI Fridays created a new app that just may be the best restaurant app since Pizza Hut. What’s so great about what Friday’s is offering? Well, for starters, you can browse the entire menu using your phone – you know, in case you have to wait in line for a long time and want to have your order ready when you sit down? Not impressed? Well, there’s one more thing that has TGI Fridays customers talking: you can track your bill as you eat.

TGI Fridays Track Bill Feature

It happens to the best of us. We sit down feeling very hungry and order some appetizers along with a few drinks. Once those drinks start rolling in and our appetites open up, most of us are inclined to keep on ordering, which, incidentally, is exactly what restaurant owners want you to do. The only problem with this scenario (besides being so full you can hardly move), is that it’s tough to keep track of that bill. When the bill does arrive, many of us tend to stare at those numbers in disbelief for more than a few minutes. Did I really order that much food?!

Well, now there can be no shock or surprise when your dining at a local TGI Fridays. The new app allows users to track every order and keep tabs on, well, your tab as you munch and sip away. If you order something extra, that expense will be added to your bill. If you want to use this app, you’ll have to download if from Google Play or from the Apple Store (Android and iOS, respectively). Once downloaded, let your waitress know what your five digit code is (this will appear when you open up the app), and that code will be plugged into the TGI Friday’s system. The app works in conjunction with mobile payment system Tabbedout, so, presumably, you can pay with your phone too.

Is This App At a Friday’s Near You?

Right now, the TGI Friday’s app is up and running on Google Play and in the Apple Store (as mentioned), and it’s also available for use at the majority of TGI Friday restaurants in North America. If you happen to have a Friday’s near you and you are tired of paying a high food or bar tab, take this app for a test drive and let me know how it goes. I’m guessing that a high bar bill won’t matter a few drinks into an evening, but food expenses might be curtailed a bit when you realize how much you are actually spending (I do kind of feel bad for waitresses though, since people will inevitably spend less on food and drinks with this app!).

So far, the public opinion regarding the new TGI Friday’s app has been positive with people stating that they wish other restaurants would offer up something so useful. Sure, it’s fun to order food using your phone and mobile payment systems make things easy, but you can’t actually track your tab using any other restaurant app – for now, that is. The TGI Fridays app is free for all, so what are you waiting for? Unless, of course, you don’t have a TGI Fridays in your neighborhood or you just don’t like the place. If this is the case, I suppose you’ll have to wait until your favorite pub or other spot creates an app like this one…though you might be waiting a long time. Cheers!
